 Introduction/Background

 

Today HIV and AIDS have become a potential threat by and large to the development activities across the world.

Pakistan is one of the several countries facing the threat of HIV and AIDS which has now become a concentrated epidemic. According to NACP report 2007 around 3250 HIV&AIDS cases have been registered so far and as per estimates of INGOs, nearly 90,000 HIV&AIDS cases exist in Pakistan.

The Federally Administered Northern Areas (FANA) also known as Northern Areas, are vulnerable to HIV and AIDS. According to an estimate, there are around 300 HIV&AIDS cases exist in this region.

NAACC General Secretary's Participation in 8-day national ToT on 'Care, Support and Treatment of People Living with HIV (PLHIV)

NAACC Gneral Secreatry Mr. Ishtiaq Ahmed Yaad Participated in 8-day national ToT on "Care, Support and Treatment of People Living with HIV (PLWHIV)" jointly organized by NACP-GoP, UNICEF, UNAIDS, WHO, UNFPA, Interact Worldwide, CRS and FHI at Islamabad dated June 23-30, 2008, in which participants across the Pakistan including Azad Kashmir and FANA region participated in ToT. Resource Persons of ToT were included Dr. Phinh (FHI-Viet Nam), Dr. Ayesha Khan (NACP), Dr. Naveeda Shabbir (NACP), Ms. Rachel Odede (UNICEF-Kenya), Ms. Cheryl Overs(Australia), Mr. Andy Melendez Salgado (IWW-London), Ms. Batool Fatima(BCC Specialist), Dr.
Rizwan Qazi (PIMS-NACP), Dr. Salim Azam (PakistanSociety), Ms. Bettina T. Schunter (UNICEF-Pakistan) and Ms. Alice(UNICEF-Pakistan) who enormously enhanced participant's knowledge on the subject.)
