"Advocacy and Awareness Campaign on HIV /AIDS Prevention at the world highest Polo Festival of Shandur 2008"

Northern Areas AIDS Control Consortium (NAACC) (www.naacc.org.pk) successfully launched an advocacy and mass awareness campaign at the famous Shandur festival during July 7-9, 2008. It was the unique activity at the world highest polo ground (12500 feet) of Shandur where thousands of national and international tourists and hundreds of different organizations participated in the festival.

NAACC in collaboration with Karakuram Cooperative Bank Limited (KCBL) Gilgit successfully organized promotional activities including Banners display at key points with slogans on HIV/AIDS Prevention, IEC material dissemination, individual counseling and through announcements highlighted the issue and stress upon the masses to adopt preventive measure and take precautionary steps to stop the HIV /AIDS in the naturally beautiful valleys of Northern Pakistan.

At the end of the festival NAACC volunteers clean the camp to keep the Shandur environmentally safe and clean as well.
