HIV & AIDS in Pakistan

 
  • First case of AIDS in Pakistan was reported in 1986
  • Total reported HIV& AIDS cases are 3073 (Sep. 2005)
  • HIV Positive – 2741
    • 69.5% of HIV positive are between 20-49 years
    • 44.1% acquired through sexual contact
    • Male to female ratio is 7:1
  • AIDS Cases – 332
    • 83.7% of total AIDS cases are between 20 to 49 years
    • 69.3% acquired through sexual contact
    • Male to female ration is 6:1
